SOURDOUGH
I've had a few friends reach out, wanting to start their sourdough journey! It's exciting to find new things to make with sourdough. I'll be posting new recipes I try and love! Stay tuned!
For the beginner:
You will need a few items to get you started. This is just a basic list, you can end up going down a rabbit hole, just a warning :)
- Digital Scale This is so important, especially in the beginning so you can measure accurately.
-
Danish Dough Whisk This type of whisk is very useful for mixing your dough. Better than traditional whisks since your dough won't get caught in it.
-
Banneton Set with Bench Scraper and Scoring Tool
- Bannetons help give your dough shape. I prefer the oval shape as I typically bake in loaf pans.
- The Bench Scraper is the handiest tool when you need your dough to move from one surface to another.
- The Scoring Tool is used before you put the bread in the oven to make an "ear" or score the dough to allow the dough to expand during baking.
-
Classic Sourdough Book
- This book has been extremely helpful in answering all questions during learning about sourdough. It has excellent recipes to follow as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
